The Ma Wan Pet Shuttle Bus (SOL Committee)

Ma Wan — home to Noah’s Ark and a pet-friendly waterfront — isn’t on the MTR, so getting there with a dog can be tricky. The Ma Wan SOL Committee (馬灣太陽系委員會) runs pet-friendly shuttle buses on weekends between Ma Wan and a rotating set of Hong Kong districts, so you can bring your dog along.

What it is

SOL runs pet shuttle buses on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, connecting Ma Wan with different districts each weekend. Recent pickup areas have included Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, Kwun Tong, Kai Tak, North Point, Sai Ying Pun, Tai Wo, Wu Kai Sha and Ma On Shan. One passenger may bring one pet, and fares are roughly HK$40–200 depending on the route.

How to book

Book on the SOL Committee website, where each weekend’s routes and times are listed. Because the districts rotate from week to week, always check the site for the current schedule before you travel. Seats are limited and popular weekends can sell out, so book early rather than turning up on the day.

What to expect on the day

Arrive at your pickup point in good time and follow the operator’s boarding instructions — bring your dog on a leash and pack water, a mat and waste bags for the ride. Keep your dog settled and clean up after it, as you would on any shared transport. The shuttle saves you an awkward multi-leg journey and drops you at Ma Wan ready to explore.

Discounted KMB Pet Bus tickets

SOL also sells discounted tickets for KMB’s regular “Pet Bus” tours — around HK$55 for one person and one pet, or HK$85 for two people and one pet — redeemed with a code in the KMB App1933. See our KMB Pet Bus guide for how that service works.

Make a day of it

Ma Wan is worth the trip. Noah’s Ark is a pet-friendly theme park, and the island has a quiet, low-traffic waterfront that is easy walking with a dog. Pack water and sun protection in warm weather, and check Noah’s Ark’s page on this site for opening hours and pet rules before you go.

Frequently asked questions

Do the pickup districts change? Yes — SOL rotates the districts it serves each weekend, so always check the current schedule on its site before planning.

Can I bring more than one dog? The shuttle is generally one pet per passenger; check with SOL when you book if you have more.

Is there another way to reach Ma Wan with a dog? You can also take a pet-friendly ferry to Park Island (Ma Wan) — see our ferries guide — but the shuttle is the most direct door-to-island option on weekends.
